This study was conducted to investigate on the awareness
of the importance of takaful amongst the Muslim community the world.
Takaful industry offers various selection of products but in this particular
study, a focus on takaful hayat (life) was made. The study focused particularly
on the community of which three study groups were investigated;
public sectors, private sectors and students. Both qualitative and quantitative
analyses were made to ensure a thorough and comprehensive survey encompassing
all subjects were covered. The result shows that majority of the communities are still lacking awareness on the importance of takaful. A small
number of subjects seemed to be having a clear understanding on the concept of
takaful but majority of the community were not aware of the difference between
the insurance and takaful schemes. Going forward, a study on the method of how
to increase an awareness amongst the Muslim community on the concept of takaful
must be conducted.
